The street kitchen is a compact, restaurant-like facility. It serves two main purposes: providing low-cost meals to the less fortunate, and mushroom trading and identification services.

Although the street kitchen functionally operates like a restaurant, it is customary for many of them to offer free meals every once in a while, particularly to residents or travelers with no money left. The street kitchen makes little money and is more of a service provided by towns than anything else.

The street kitchen's manager functions as the chef and is typically a Citizen with the mycologist trait.

It is an essential facility; one is guaranteed in each town in the Mazes.

Locations

Every town in the Mazes possesses a street kitchen. The ones in Roazon and Fort Silver are abandoned.

Services

Street kitchens provide two main services: the mushroom dish restaurant and the mushroom store.

Mushroom dish restaurant

Food served in the street kitchen is either mushroom-based or involves mushrooms in the recipe. It is meant to be cheap and filling, making it the go-to place if you're hard up for cash and just want a warm meal.

If you are in exceptionally dire straits, the restaurant may serve one free meal per person per day.

Due to limited supplies and the need to serve multiple people, most customers are restricted to 2 of each item per person per day, except mineral water. Exceptions can be negotiated, particularly to customers who bring mushrooms to sell.
