Overview
This article or section contains lore-related information. Though not strictly necessary for playing the game, you are encouraged to read this section if you wish to have a better understanding of the game's universe. |
Minotaurs are enormous humanoid creatures, appearing half human and half bovine. They stand upright on their two legs, possessing large hooves in place of feet and muscular legs. They possess a mostly humanoid body from the waist up, usually very large and muscular, equipped with two arms, two hands, and five fingers per hand. Capping this body is a bovine head, specifically resembling that of a bull, complete with a pair of horns.
Minotaurs are sapient, and most of them know both Common and Youkai-go. They are considered intelligent, cunning, very vain, and arrogant, viewing all other creatures as beneath themselves. They are fond of taunting and insulting opponents, especially during combat, but their vain attitude makes them prone to accepting challenges. Sufficiently crafty adventurers can trick a minotaur into accepting an unreasonable challenge and therefore avoid direct combat.
These creatures are tall and heavy, standing at an average height of 7 feet and weighing anywhere between 300 to 400 lbs. They have a life expectancy of around 100 years. There are both male and female minotaurs; females have breasts and shorter and straighter, less curved horns. However, these are the only visible differences; both sexes can reach the same heights, weights, and muscular masses, both speak in deep voice tones, and both are just as arrogant and violent.
Outside this propensity for violence, minotaurs are accomplished hunters and are not shy from using modern tools and equipment. Though the weapon of choice of a minotaur is the stereotypical battle axe, many enjoy using firearms - shotguns in particular - to stay competitive and remain a threat to the civilized species of the Mazes. They enjoy being feared and seem to thrive on the notion of being one of the most dangerous creatures in the world. If you are unfortunate enough to meet one, they will be sure to remind you of just how much trouble you're in.
If you do, prioritize talking and getting out of the situation alive. If you're able to talk the minotaur into a ridiculous challenge of some sort then slip away, you will have avoided an unnecessary and difficult fight. If you must fight a minotaur, apply the same strategy you would with dragons and show no mercy. As humanoid creatures, both the eyes and the crotch count as weak points. If you have the accuracy (or the volume of fire) to spare, try going for headshots or weak point shots. Most importantly, don't play to the minotaur's strengths, especially literal physical strength. Most are rated as twice as strong as the average human, making them quite capable (not to mention willing) to try and chop you into literal halves.
