The chicken is a creature belonging to the Birds category.
Attacks and techniques
This creature has no attacks at all, nor does it have the ability to use weapons. Therefore it is completely defenseless.
- Delicacy meat: When butchered, this creature's meat is considered to be a delicacy, worth double the value of regular game meat.
- Unable to open doors: This creature cannot escape during combat, nor can it leave the room it is found in unless guided, helped, or carried out in some way or another.

Males may be called roosters while females are known as hens. Both are recognizable from other birds by their combs - a red, fleshy, crown-like appendages on their heads. Roosters have larger combs, longer tail feathers, and an overall more colorful plumage. Young chickens are referred to as chicks and are typically yellow in color, though other feather colorations also exist.
On average, adult chickens range from 23 to 28 inches tall, weighing anywhere between 4 to 7 pounds, with hens being raised for eggs being typically the largest and heaviest.
Being the smallest and the easiest type of animal to capture and raise for its meat, the chicken's reputation is largely centered around how delicious it is, or how afraid and defenseless it is compared to a typical inhabitant of the Mazes. To call someone a "chicken" is to insult or make fun of them for being scared. Chicken- and chicken egg-based dishes, much like in the real world, are considered to be a staple of cuisine in the Mazes, in both human and youkai cultures, as evidenced by the large amount of food items using chicken products.
Maze chickens are considered to be a fully domesticated animal, largely found in farms. Though wild chickens still exist in the Mazes, biologists are quite confused as to how these animals - not exactly known for their ability to open doors - have survived for so long in the world. Current theories speculate that they were never meant to inhabit the indoor sections, instead preferring the outside areas. Most of the chickens found in the UA are lost or stolen individuals from farms, sometimes used by local raider or gangster populations as means of obtaining eggs when they are not mercilessly hunted down for their, admittedly, delicious meat. After all, who could refuse free chicken?
