Computers, full name personal computers (or PCs) are multi-purpose devices typically used for word processing, database management, digital file organization and editing. They can also be used for leisure (computer games) and for more specialized applications. All PCs come with various peripherals, such as a monitor, a keyboard, a mouse, and speakers. They also have ports for data storage devices: a floppy disk drive, zip drive, memory card port, and CD drive. The data on the hard drive disk (HDD) itself can also be harvested.
Blank versions of data storage devices are available for sale in workshops as crafting items.
PCs are room furniture; they are not items that can be added to the inventory. They are a type of powered furniture; they require power from a wall socket to function, and will not function if there is no power in the room.
Data storage devices
Computers found in the UA are primarily used for retrieving data storage devices. When finding a powered PC, roll &data then follow the command's instructions. You will obtain one (or multiple) data storage devices, which contain valuable data.
- You may identify the contents of an unknown data storage device to determine if it's valuable. If you have a complete data set or a standalone device, you can sell it to a Library for money.
- If you don't care to identify them or if they are corrupted, damaged, or otherwise unusable, you can sell unwanted data storage devices to a workshop as if they were blank devices, at the normal 25% rate.
