| "Traditionally, a light machine gun (LMG) is typically chambered for cartridges such as 5.56 NATO or 7.62 NATO, and rarely anything more powerful. It sits below the impossible-to-realize ideal of a heavy machine gun (HMG), as those are typically in huge calibers like .50 BMG or 12.7x108mm; they are thought of as "impossible" because the size and weight of such weapons would all but render them impossible to carry by a single person, making them less than desirable in a world like that of the Mazes. When a team of curious engineers realized that there was a "gap" between these two traditional definitions, and figured out that a man-portable machine gun with more power than even the best LMGs was possible, they went to work to fill said gap, and the result was the LightWeight Medium Machine Gun, a belt-fed machine gun designed to fire .338 Norma Magnum. The LWMMG is a .338 Norma Magnum machine gun.
Obtaining this weapon
This weapon is referred to as a Specs-docs only weapon. It cannot be normally found in the Mazes, and will only be available after completing the following requirements:
- Turn in the following specifications documents to the Proving Grounds engineer, at the Calfair Sector workshop:
- #PF617 - Prototype .338-caliber medium machine gun blueprints
- #RD196 - Recoil impulse averaging technology for use in a machine gun
Upon completing the requirements listed above, the following items will become available for sale at the Calfair Sector workshop from the Proving Grounds engineer:
- The LWMMG machine gun itself, sold with an empty 50-round ammo belt box, for
5000
- Spare LWMMG 50-round ammo belt boxes (empty), for 2000 apiece
- Boxes of LWMMG disintegrating belt links (100 per box), for 1000 per box
For this reason, this weapon is Rarity 7 (Unique). Please note that the Proving Grounds engineer is only available during the day shift (between 8 AM and 8 PM).
