.357 SIG is a type of ammunition for firearms. It is classified as a (P)istol caliber.
.357 SIG is pronounced three fifty-seven SEEG. .357 SIG is based on .40 S&W, but necked down to accept bullets of the same diameter (.355 / 9mm) as those used in 9x19mm Parabellum. The name was chosen because the ballistic performance of this caliber approaches that of .357 Magnum, but it is designed to be used in semi-automatic pistols.
This caliber may also be known as 9x22mm, or simply .357, though it is not encouraged due to the similarly-named .357 Magnum.
