Use
Two Become One is the signature technique of the makaryuudo. It is a variant of Dual wielding that is specifically intended to pair a longsword (Two-handed sword) with a short sword (One-handed sword).
If two suitable weapons are equipped and declared as being dual-wielded into Two Become One, the following effects apply:
- Your Initiative Speed while dual-wielding is equal to the IS of both weapons added together.
- You cannot' aim each weapon individually on separate targets. Both weapons will "become one" and must be used on a single point. However, a single attack roll is needed, and if a hit occurs, both weapons hit according to the dice results and accuracy.
- If your Skill levels in One-handed swords and Two-handed swords are different (e.g., one Expert, one Master), the lowest skill level applies for accuracy calculation.
- 0.8x damage.
- A character with the Ambidextrous trait hits at full damage (1.0x) instead.
Trivia
This ability is based on the niten'ichi (二天一, 'two heavens as one') style of swordfighting created by Japanese swordsman and strategist Miyamoto Musashi, in which the fighter uses their large sword (normally a katana) with one hand instead of two, freeing up the other hand to use their companion sword (normally a wakizashi). In the Mazes, this technique is the heritage of the makaryuudo, with the name of its inventor being lost to history.
