== Trivia ==
In real life, the Mauser M712 (known as ''Schnellfeuer'', German for "rapid fire") is nominally chambered in 7.63x25mm Mauser. Though the two cartridges are very slightly different (very slight differences in case length and bullet diameter), these differences are so minimal that they fall within variations in manufacturing tolerances. In fact, modern-production ammunition uses virtually identical cases and projectiles (ranging in diameter from 0.308" to 0.312").

Although the dimensional similarities are well known, shooters are often advised not to use 7.62 Tokarev ammunition in 7.63 Mauser firearms, due to an alleged difference in power and chamber pressures. In reality, the maximum chamber pressures (pMax) are actually fairly similar. According to the CIP, the pMax for 7.62 Tokarev is 2500 bar (36259 psi), and the pMax for 7.63 Mauser is 2250 bar (32633 psi), which is exactly 10% less. It must be noted, however, that the advice not to use 7.62 Tokarev ammunition into real-life 7.63 Mauser firearms is not entirely unfounded, due to the prevalence of surplus high-pressure submachine gun-grade ammunition, which could damage or destroy the already old and worn-out 7.63 Mauser guns.

As with the [[Webley]], the author assumes that a theoretical brand-new Mauser M712, made using modern steels and production methods such as those produced in the Mazes, could handle 7.62 Tokarev ammunition without too much trouble, forming the reasoning behind the in-game chambering. For maximum authenticity, you can pretend that -P versions of 7.62 Tokarev are 7.63 Mauser; they are the closest statistical equivalent.
