This page regroups the rules for all of the gambling games that can be played in a casino.


Lounge games

These games can be played with the bartender at the casino lounge.

Casino Yatzy

A variant of the classic dice game, yatzy. This is a fast-paced variant best enjoyed on bar counters around friends and a drink.

Casino yatzy: Bet limits

  • Players: 1
  • Minimum bet: 1 chip
  • Maximum bet: 100 chips

Casino yatzy: How to play

  • Place your bet.
  • Roll five six-sided dice (5d6) once. Unless you rolled a special combo (see below), select a number between 1 and 6.
  • Set aside any singles, pairs, triplets, or quads of that number from your first roll; these set-aside dice are "banked". You may roll the unbanked dice again, up to twice more to try and get more of the number you selected.
  • After rolling three times, count the number of dice (both banked and not banked) featuring the number you selected earlier.
    • 0, 1 (single), or 2 (pair): Losing hand. Your bet is lost.
    • 3 (triplet): Your bet is returned to you (you win 1x your bet).
    • 4 (quad): You win 2x your bet.
    • 5 (yatzy): You win 4x your bet.

Casino yatzy: Special combos

  • Golden yatzy: If you roll a yatzy on your first throw, you automatically win 20x your bet.
  • Big straight: If you roll 23456 on your first throw, you automatically win 11x your bet.
  • Little straight: If you roll 12345 on your first throw, you automatically win 9x your bet.
  • Full house: If you roll a pair of one number plus a triplet of different numbers on the first throw, you automatically win 7x your bet.
  • Double pair gambit: If you roll two pairs on the first throw, you may bank it then roll the remaining die once. If the result would turn one of the pairs into a triplet (thus forming a full house), you win 3x your bet.

Cee-lo

A classic dice game. Played with three dice and a (clean) bowl, it is as popular in casino lounges as it is on the streets, where this game was born.

This game is known under many different names, such as See-low or Four-five-six. In Youkai-go, it is variously known as チロ (chiro), チンチロリン (chinchirorin) or 四五六 (yongoroku, transliterates to "four-five-six"). "Chiro" is an approximation of the name "Cee-lo", and "Chinchirorin" is said to be the sound dice make when they're thrown into the bowl.

Cee-lo: Bet limits

  • Players: 3 plus banker
  • Minimum bet: 20 chips
  • Maximum bet: 2000 chips

Cee-lo: How to play

  • Determining the banker and player roll order: Traditionally, the banker is determined at the start of each round, by having each player roll three six-sided dice (3d6); whoever rolls the highest amount of points becomes the banker. The second-highest score is the first player to roll, the third-highest is the second to roll, and the lowest is the last to roll.
    • In casino lounges, the bartender is always the banker. Players still roll to determine the player roll order.
  • Each player places a bet.
  • Every participant rolls three six-sided dice (3d6) up to 3 times to attempt forming a valid set or one of the special combos.
    • A valid set is a pair of the same numbers plus a single of a different number. The single die determines the participant's score, ranging from 1 to 6. (e.g. if you roll a 446, your score is 6.)
    • If no valid set or special combo has been rolled in three attempts, the score is considered to be 0, which almost always guarantees a loss.
  • The banker rolls first, and the other players roll one after the other in the decided order. The objective of the players is to beat the banker's score.
  • If a player loses, the banker takes their bet away. If a player wins with a regular valid set, they make 2x their bet back. Special combos have different payouts.

Cee-lo: Special combos

  • All-Odds: 1-3-5. If the banker or the first player in order rolls all-odds, their score is 3. Otherwise, their score is equal to that of the previous participant.
  • All-Evens: 2-4-6. If the banker or the last player in order rolls all-evens, their score is 4. Otherwise, their score is equal to that of the previous participant. (If the first player rolls all-evens, their score is equal to that of the banker.)
  • Musashi: 6-3-4. Equals a score of 6.
  • Cee-lo: 4-5-6. Automatic win.
    • If a banker rolls a cee-lo, all players lose immediately.
    • If a player rolls a cee-lo, they immediately win 2x their bet.
  • Triple: 2-2-2, 3-3-3, 4-4-4, 5-5-5, 6-6-6. Automatic win.
    • If the banker rolls a triple, all players lose immediately.
    • If a player rolls a triple, they immediately win 3x their bet.
  • Triple 1: 1-1-1. Automatic win.
    • If the banker rolls a triple 1, all players must pay twice their best, effectively equal to losing twice.
    • If a player rolls a triple 1, they immediately win 5x their bet.
  • Asshole: 1-2-3. Automatic loss.
    • If the banker rolls an asshole, every player wins 2x their bet (known as breaking the bank).
    • If a player rolls an asshole, they must pay twice their bet, effectively equal to losing twice.

Chou-han

A classic dice game. Very fast-paced and best-enjoyed with lots of players (at least four, but the more the merrier). The name is a youkai-go term (丁半) which means "evens and odds".

The traditional setting for a game of chou-han is sitting on tatami rolls, but it has become quite popular in casinos and bars as well.

Chou-han: Bet limits

  • Players: 4-8 plus banker
  • Minimum bet: 1 chip
  • Maximum bet: 1000 chips

Chou-han: How to play

  • The banker uses a pair of six-sided dice (2d6) and an opaque cup, and is the only one allowed to roll the dice.
  • Every player places a bet by selecting either chou (, evens), han (, odds), or a number of their choosing between 2 and 12. Players are allowed to change their bet until the "No more bets!" call.
  • The banker places the dice in an opaque cup and rolls it audibly until they call "No more bets!", at which point each player must confirm their bet.
  • When all bets have been confirmed, the banker reveals the roll result.
    • If the result is 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12, then chou wins.
    • If the result is 3, 5, 7, 9, or 11, then han wins.
  • All losers' bets are added to a pot.
  • Winners by chou or han win 2x their bet back.
  • Winners who called the correct number win 2x their bet back plus the losers' pot.
    • If multiple winners called the correct number, the pot is divided evenly (or as close to evenly) as possible between each winner.
    • If there are no winners calling the correct number, then the bank absorbs the losers' bets.


Machine games

These single-player games are playable by using one of the machines in the slot room or video poker room.

Slots

Everyone's favorite, the classic slot machines. These are simple, three-slot, single payout line machines of a classic design.

Slots: Machine types

There are four different types of slot machines: Copper, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The slot machine type determines how many chips you need to insert per game.

  • Copper: 1 chip = 1 credit
  • Silver: 5 chips = 1 credit
  • Gold: 25 chips = 1 credit
  • Platinum: 100 chips = 1 credit

Multiples of each machine type are available on a casino's slots floor. Simply select the one you want to play on.

Caution: This section makes use of Unicode symbols and may not display correctly on all browsers or devices.

  • Select the number of credits to bet, from 1 to 3, then insert the requisite amount of chips.

To simulate the slots spinning randomly, roll 3d8 once per game. Each number represents a symbol (see the table below):

A winning combination is any triplet of symbols, except Blank. You may also win small amounts of credits if you roll one or two ⚡ (lightning). Winning combinations cause the machine to give you additional credits, at varying rates depending on the amount you bet. You may cash out at any moment, which will convert your slot credits back into chips.

Video poker: Bet limits

  • Players: 1
  • Valid bets: 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 chips

Video poker: How to play

  • Insert 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 chips. The more you insert, the higher the potential payouts.
  • The machine displays five randomly selected cards from two standard 52-card decks. Your objective is to form a hand using the cards given.
  • Select between 0 and 5 of the cards displayed to HOLD. Any cards not selected are discarded and replaced with new ones.
  • If your hand is one of the valid combinations, you win.

Tips for Game Masters
Simulating cards with dice is not recommended, as it has several limitations.
We strongly recommend using the random.org playing card generator, as it can be configured easily.
When generating cards for video poker, set the deck amount to 2, make sure jokers are not included, then draw 10 cards. For convenience and ease of copy-pasting, we recommend turning on "Show cards as text".
The first five cards will be used as the player's starting hand, and the next five are hidden from the player, to be used as cards to distribute after the player has decided which to hold and discard. This method ensures that no unwanted repeats are created.



Table games

These table games are playable by sitting at one of the tables in the corresponding room.

Baccarat

A classic casino game, based on the Punto Banco variant. No-one actually gets to touch cards - you simply bet on which side of the table gets a higher score than the other... or whether they tie.

Baccarat: Bet limits

  • Players: 1-4 plus dealer
  • Minimum bet: 20 chips
  • Maximum bet: No limit
  • Valid bets: Multiples of 20 chips only.
  • Decks used: 8

Baccarat: How to play

  • Each player places their bet, choosing whether to bet on the Player side, the Banker side, or a Tie.
  • The objective is for the side you bet on to win - or for both sides to have the same score if you bet on a Tie.
  • In Baccarat, numbered cards are worth their face value, except for 10, which is worth 0. All face cards (J-Q-K) are worth 0, and Aces are worth 1.
  • Each side is aiming to get as close as possible to 9 points. If the score were to be 10 or more, only the rightmost digit is counted; therefore, a 13 is equal to 3, and a 10 is equal to 0.
  • The dealer draws two cards for the Player side, then two cards for the Banker side.
    • If one side gets 8 or 9 with the initial two cards, it is called a Natural. No more cards are drawn for either side. Highest score wins.
    • If neither side gets a Natural, the Tableau is consulted.

Tableau:

  • If the Player side has a score of 5 or less with two cards, the Player side hits (gets a third card). If the Player side has a score of 6 or 7, the Player side stands (no more cards).
  • If the Player side stands, the Banker side plays as the Player would: hit if the score is 5 or less, stand on 6 or 7.
  • If the Player side hits, check the Banker score:
    • If Banker score is 2 or less, Banker always hits.
    • If Banker score is 3, Banker hits, unless Player's third card is an 8.
    • If Banker score is 4, Banker hits, unless Player's third card is any of the following: 2-3-4-5-6-7
    • If Banker score is 5, Banker hits, unless Player's third card is any of the following: 4-5-6-7
    • If Banker score is 6, Banker hits, unless Player's third card is any of the following: 6-7
    • If Banker score is 7, Banker stands.

A math formula can be used to determine whether to draw or stand. Take the player's third card, and count 8 as -2 and 9 as -1. Divide the third card's value by 2, round down, and add 3. If the Banker's score is equal or less than the result, the Banker side draws.

  • Example: Player side's third card is a 7. 7/2 = 3.5. 3.5 rounded down is 3. 3+3 = 6. If the Banker's score is 6 or less, Banker may draw.

Payouts:

  • Bet on Player, Player side wins: You win 2x your bet.
  • Bet on Banker, Banker side wins: You win 1.95x your bet.
  • Bet on Tie, both sides have the same score: You win 9x your bet.
Tips for Game Masters
This is another card-based game; we recommend the random.org playing card generator.
Set the deck amount to 8, make sure jokers are not included, then draw 6 cards. You may ignore the suits - only the values matter.
Separate the six cards into two halves. The cards on the first half are Player side cards, and the cards on the second half are Banker side cards. Reveal the first two cards on both sides then refer to the rules to find out whether you should reveal the third card. Calculate scores accordingly.


Blackjack

A classic casino game. Try to beat the dealer's score, but do not go over 21, or your hand goes bust.

Blackjack: Bet limits

  • Players: 1-4 plus dealer
  • Minimum bet: 10 chips
  • Maximum bet: No limit
  • Decks used: 4

Blackjack: How to play

  • Each player places their bet. Once bets are placed, cards are distributed.
  • The dealer and every player receives 2 cards. One of the dealer's cards is face down, revealing only half of what they have.
  • Each player plays sequentially, and the dealer always plays last.
  • Card values are as follows:
    • Number cards = Worth their face value in points
    • Face cards = Worth 10 points
    • Ace = Worth 1 or 11 points (11 if the combined total of your other cards is 10 or less, 1 otherwise; two Aces = 12 points.)
  • A player may hit or stand, and in certain conditions, double down or split.
    • Hit: Get a new card.
    • Stand: Keep your hand as is, the next player acts.
    • Double down: Double your bet, and receive one card. You will automatically stand after receiving this card.
    • Split: If your two starting cards are the same face value, you may place a second bet of equal value to the first to split your hand into two. You receive a second card for each, and you may hit, stand, or double down on each hand individually.
  • The dealer stands on soft 17. (see Special situations below to understand what soft and hard hands are.)

Payouts:

  • If your hand's score is higher than the dealer's, or if the dealer busts (hand value went over 21), you win 2x your bet.
  • If your hand's score is equal to the dealer's, you push and you get your bet back.
  • If your hand's score goes over 21, you bust, causing you to lose.
  • If you get 21 with your starting hand (10 or face card + Ace), you get a blackjack.
    • If the dealer also gets a blackjack, it is counted as a push.
    • Otherwise, you win 3x your bet.

Special situations:

  • Soft and Hard: If your starting hand includes an Ace and you did not get a blackjack, your hand is referred to as soft as long as that first Ace is worth 11. All other hands are referred to as hard. It is always safe to hit on a soft hand. However, hitting may cause your hand's score to decrease.
    • For example, 7 + Ace forms a Soft 18. If you hit and get a King, it is still 18, but it becomes a Hard 18. If you hit and get a 5, your hand becomes a Hard 13 (7 + 1 + 5 = 13).
  • Folding:' If the dealer initially shows an Ace, you have the possibility to fold. Doing so will return 0.5x of your bet.

Double or Nothing

An unconventional card game that seems deceptively simple at first, but has proven diabolically addictive and very popular. The name is often shortened to DoN.

DoN: Bet limits

  • Players: 1-4 plus dealer
  • Minimum bet: 10 chips
  • Maximum bet: No limit
  • Decks used: 4

DoN: How to play

  • Each player places an initial bet.
  • The dealer draws five cards face down, then reveals the first card.
  • The objective is to bet whether the next card will be higher, lower, or equal value to the last face-up card.
    • Card values in order: 2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-J-Q-K-A
  • If your guess is correct, your bet is doubled (quadrupled (4x) if you guessed equal value). You are then offered a choice: take your chips, or bet all of it again for another round.
  • If your guess is wrong, your bet is lost.
  • The game continues until all players have lost, taken their chips, or until all five cards have been revealed. To prevent potentially ruinous streaks of luck, a new game requires new bets.
Tips for Game Masters
This is the simplest of the card-based casino games. As before, we recommend the random.org playing card generator.
Set the deck amount to 8, make sure jokers are not included, then draw 5 cards. You may ignore the suits - only the values matter. Reveal each card as needed, then generate new cards on a new game.


Roulette

The oldest of casino games. Early variants of roulette were known to the Mazes as early as Era 3. Predict where the ball will land and win big.

  • Players: 1-4 plus dealer
  • Minimum bet: 20 chips

Roulette: How to play

  • Each player may place their bets on a specific number or a range of numbers (see below for the list of valid bets). A player may place more than one bet.
  • After each player has placed their bets, the dealer calls "No more bets," and spins the roulette, releasing the ball. To simulate such a roll, the GM rolls 1d38.
  • The ball lands in one of the cells. A result of 1-36 corresponds to its face value. 37 corresponds to 0, and 38 corresponds to 00.
  • Check if the number is within the range of your bets. If they are, you win. The narrower the range, the more you win.
