"Pronounced "Art-geez," with a hard 'G', the Ortgies pistol is, despite its unassuming looks, an unusual .32-caliber pistol. Designed to feature a minimal number of parts, the Ortgies is renowned for its simplicity, accuracy, and low cost. Coupled with its .32 ACP chambering, enthusiasts consider it an excellent pistol to graduate from .22 Long Rifle with. The original design blueprints planned for rechambering projects and even employed a dual-caliber magazine capable of accepting both .32 ACP and .380 ACP cartridges. However, this original magazine was scrapped in favor of dedicated, single-caliber magazines out of reliability concerns. Although the plans and barrels for a .380 conversion still exist, only the .32 magazines made it to production. In theory, a person with the talent to build custom magazines could help you convert it..."
