Primates are a category of quadrupedal creatures capable of standing upright on their hind legs. They are considered to be the closest genetic ancestors of humans. All primates may be colloquially referred to as "monkeys", however this is a colloquial term and is not considered a correct term.

At first glance, bloodapes resemble gorillas and have similar average sizes, but they couldn't be more different. If the gorilla could be described as a gentle giant that just wants to be left alone, the bloodape is its exact opposite: a nightmarish ape with a maw full of sharp teeth, hands armed with sharp claws, and an extremely violent disposition.

Although biological testing has revealed that all primates are true omnivores, bloodapes have received their name due to their preference for meat, and their tendency to not wait until their prey has died before they begin eating them, leading to blood messily spraying on their faces and bodies. Bloodapes are frequently depicted as being shades of red, but this is not a natural color. Their actual fur color is the same as that of a gorilla - dark brown to black.

Bloodapes see all other creatures as potential prey, and if they are hungry, they will attack anything in sight (including sapients) until they are fed. Under desperate circumstances, bloodapes turn on one another and engage in cannibalism for survival.

If you see these creatures, you are highly likely to be engaged in combat by them. Despite their fearsome and imposing appearance, bloodapes are still only flesh and fur. Therefore, the most effective weapons are powerful firearms loaded with expanding ammunition.
