"Just like the AKMSU, but in 5.45x39mm. The AKS-74U is a subcarbine variant of the AKS-74, complete with its very short barrel (only 8.1 inches!). The advantages of this model over the AKMSU are much the same ones the AK-74 has over the AKM; less recoil, more controllable in full-auto. It still loves to burp giant balls of fire and singe eyebrows with every shot, though. This particular weapon is also known by its nickname, Krinkov. The origin of this peculiar name is completely unknown, and it may well be a fabrication to enhance the desirability of this weapon; not that it's not desirable to begin with."
Hebizuka (quote written by Tempest)

Trivia

  • The designation AKS-74U is not 100% accurate. This weapon features a side mount (WP mount) for optics, which would make it an AKS-74UN. The "N" was intentionally dropped from the designation as the author does not intend to add the non-N version.
