Overview

Though not strictly necessary for playing the game, you are encouraged to read this section if you wish to have a better understanding of the game's universe.

Wargs are canines resembling wolves, but bigger and meaner in every way. Taller and more muscular (adults are on average 4 feet tall and weigh 100 to 120 pounds), armed with a mouth full of sharp teeth, they even possess "evil" red eyes and fur coloration ranging from browns to black, including silvers, further cementing their reputation as "evil" or "demonic" wolves.

Despite that, wargs are not actually demonic in origin (Hell, Inc. has denied every allegation), but they are certainly more violent creatures than wolves. They are far more hostile to sapient contact, and have resisted virtually every attempt at domestication, usually resulting in further anger and hostility. In response, sapients have demonized and hated wargs for as long as both have existed together.

Lone wargs are not much of a threat so long as one makes sure to land all of their hits. However, wargs travel in packs in much the same way as wolves, which means that it is possible to encounter large squads of up to 3 or 4 of them at the same time. If this happens to you, be absolutely certain that you have the means to take them on with absolute confidence. Otherwise, run; wargs will not hesitate to tear apart any creature that gives them the opportunity.

Wargs existed during the medieval eras, and were even referred to as such in the Old Tongue with a word pronounced the exact same way: uarg. It is believed that "uarg" or "warg" is a rough approximation of the noise a warg makes when it growls, and that the name had simply stuck ever since.
