Vinebeasts are one of the most peculiar creatures in this category. Meant to be a genetic cross between an animal and a plant, the vinebeast exhibits many traits that are exclusive to plants; namely, the ability to sustain itself from photosynthesis. One significant disadvantage of plant life is that if light isn't natural (sunlight) or simulated sunlight, most plants cannot grow. This issue was meant to be addressed by giving the vinebeast the ability to move on its own, so that it can relocate and seek sunlight at will.
The body of a vinebeast is composed of a large, bulbous body, usually red or purple in color, with two "arms" made out of bundles of thorny vines, and two "legs" made out of a material that is described as "half flesh, half wood". This creature reproduces asexually by releasing spores into outside areas, so that they may be exposed to water and sunlight before they gain the ability to move on their own. When fully standing, a vinebeast's body is roughly 5 feet 6 foot 3 inches tall.
The creature does not have a head, instead having the ability to partially split the top of its body into three sections, revealing a dark purple or dark blue fleshy interior. The vinebeast can release globs of acid or "fire" poison darts from its body. It can also defend itself by using its thorny vine "arms" to strike targets with. Although this creature does not have anything resembling a digestive system, it frequently seeks other living creatures to attack and kill, so that it can absorb the water contained within their bodies. Vinebeast fatalities are easily recognizable: the bodies are dry and appear grotesquely wrinkled.
