The Rifleman Trick (or Rifleman's Trick) is an ability and a combat technique.

Description

Originally developed by any number of shooters using Winchester lever-action rifles, this technique was named in honor of the titular character in The Rifleman, due to him showcasing the use of his Winchester Model 1892 (not featured in the game; though many similar rifles can be used instead) in the intro of every episode, performing an early version of what is now known as the Rifleman Trick.

The technique consists in learning a method to rapidly cycle the lever on a lever-action rifle, in such a way that it makes it possible to increase the shooter's effective rate of fire. Certain rifles are better suited than others for this task (and many are modified with larger loops, in order to allow for faster use, or even one-handed versions of the trick), though it seems to mostly depend on the shooter and their level of familiarity with their rifles.

Requirements

This ability is not initially available and must be unlocked. To unlock this ability, your character must reach Expert level in the Lever-action combat skill.

Once unlocked, to be able to perform this combat technique, your character must be equipped with the following:

  • A firearm capable of using lever-action mode.

Use

If you meet the skill and weapon requirements, you can perform the Rifleman Trick, which will result in the following:

  • The max shots per turn limit for lever-action mode is doubled (allowing for up to 10 shots instead of only 5)
  • IR +1
