Angelic force bolt

Damage type Range MAPT IS LDV Pain (All ACs)
Special Ranged 1 14 +1 32%
  • This technique is an Angelic power which requires 1 AE to cast.
  • On a successful hit, if the target has at least one equipped weapon, one random equipped weapon is blown off the target's body, and flung into a random Side of the room. That weapon also sustains damage, losing Condition equal to 1000 x the amount of Limb Damage this attack dealt to the target.

Stun howl

Damage type Range MAPT IS LDV Pain (All ACs)
Special Ranged 1 1 N N/A
  • Inflicts no Pain or Limb Damage.
  • This technique is an Angelic power which requires 2 AE to cast.
  • Upon casting this technique, one Side must be targeted; all creatures on that Side (except the creature casting this technique) must roll a 2d6.
    • Creatures rolling 8 or more are Stunned for 1 turn.
    • Creatures rolling 7 or less are Stunned for 2 turns.

Other information

Creature traits:

  • Angelic: This creature is angelic, and therefore has access to certain Angelic powers (listed above as techniques), and the resource needed to cast them, Angelic Energy. See this page for more details.
  • Cannot be butchered: On death, this creature's body quickly fades then disappears, dropping any equipment it carried (if any) and making it impossible to butcher this creature.
  • Flight: This creature is capable of flying using its wings. As a free action, this creature may toggle Flight on or off once per turn. If Flight is on, this creature receives the following effects:
    • Primed pressure mines will not be set off by a flying creature on the same Side.
    • Primed directional mines will not be set off by a flying creature even if it enters the Protected Side from the Target Side.
    • Opponents attacking a flying creature suffer from a FT malus: FT+2 with melee attacks, FT+1 with ranged attacks.
    • Flying creatures cannot take cover.
    • Flying creatures suffer from certain maluses: Recoil +1 and FT+1.
    • If at least half of their wings is disabled, this creature is forced off Flight and can no longer toggle it back on until healed.

Angelic creatures are employees of Heaven, Ltd., the Angelic faction.

The etymology of the word pterolykos is rooted in the Angelic language, which can be roughly but aptly translated to "Winged companion wolf". As the etymology suggests, pterolykoi resemble white wolves, but with a pair of angelic wings on their back, with which they can fly and hover in place.

All pterolykoi have snow-white fur and a pair of brilliant blue eyes. As angelic creatures, they can accumulate Angelic Energy and use certain powers; namely the angelic force bolt, which allows them to fire a bolt of energy from their maws to strike targets, as well as the stun howl, which is a loud, echoing and fear-inducing howl-like noise that can freeze other creatures in place for a brief moment. People that have been targeted by a stun howl have described being wracked with uncontrollable and paralyzing fear for a few seconds.

Pterolykoi are non-evolving angelic creatures that are unable to speak any kind of language and are therefore not considered sapient. However, even though they cannot speak any language, Pterolykoi seem to clearly and accurately understand every word spoken, and provided they come from an angelic that outranks them, or a person they protect or trust, they will respond accurately to requests and orders, no matter which language is being used. Pterolykoi were observed responding to orders spoken in Angelic, Common and Youkai-go, which suggests a level of intelligence on par with sapients.

Angelics describe the pterolykos as a beast designed to be faithful and protective, serving as a natural companion to angelics of various ranks and as a friend to sapients in need of help. The canine form is said to have been chosen for its familiarity and for the long history between the wolf and most sapients in an apparent effort to make these creatures intrinsically likable and trustworthy.

Within the angelic hierarchy, pterolykoi are D-rank, above cherubs, at the same level as angels, and under all C-rank angelics; shrine maidens, feathered serpents, and guardian angels.
