A short, stubby, omnivorous creature, raised for its meat. Likes to eat, sleep, and roll in the mud.
Pigs are a peculiar type of creature known as a ''suid'', of which it is the only member in the Mazes. Males are referred to as ''boars'' and females as ''sows''. The term ''swine'' can be used to refer to pigs in general. Adult pigs are about 3 feet tall on average, and adults of both sexes have an average weight of 600 to 650 pounds.
Pigs are famous for many things, most notably their appearance, diet, and typical habits. These creatures are short and fat, with light fur being typically white, brown, black, or more famously, pinkish. Pigs enjoy an activity called rooting - digging into dirt, mud, or other type of soft soil, then rolling their bodies into it, usually to keep warm and make themselves comfortable. Pigs are notorious omnivores and versatile eaters, capable of eating and digesting foods nearly as varied as a human or another sapient could.
The typical behavior of a pig has led to many stereotypes and comparisons with sapients (humans in particular); one example unique to the Mazes is ''pig-skin'', an insult referring to humans.
Pig meat is generally referred to as ''pork'', and is prized for its taste and its inclusion in many recipes; therefore it is considered more valuable. Although it is rare nowadays, it is still possible to find pigs in the 'wild', in the Uncivilized Area. They are generally animals that have escaped a town's farm area, though some groups can still be found living in the wild, typically in outside areas where grass and easily diggable soil can be found, so that they have a place to eat and rest.
