Pigs are a peculiar type of creature known as a ''suid''. Males are referred to as ''boars'' and females as ''sows''. The terms ''suids'' or ''swine'' can be used to refer to pigs in general. Adult pigs are about 3 feet tall on average, and adults of both sexes have an average weight of 600 to 650 pounds.
