A select-fire light rifle platform based on the AR-15/M16 family of rifles, traditionally chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO. They are sometimes called black rifles, after the black coloration of the standard furniture, giving these rifles a distinctive look. AR-15 rifles are famous for their use of the Stoner-style direct impingement (Stoner DI) action, as opposed to piston-based systems.

Any AR-15 style platform chambered in a rifle caliber and using the original Stoner DI action is considered to be part of the AR-15 family. This excludes pistol-caliber platforms such as the Colt RO635 (these are direct blowback) or AR-15 style firearm such as the Honey Badger, which use a short-stroke piston system instead.

noframe This page is actively under construction!
Please ask the following users for permission before editing this page: Tempest
I will transpose everything from this onto this page. I will probably also change and modify certain mods and offerings as well.

Maze Customs major mods are all of the modifications offered to what are known as Customs weapon families or simply Customs families. A family regroups certain weapons with the same or compatible operating principles; for example, all members of the AK family are based in some form on the Kalashnikov rifle.

There are 11 Customs families in total. Each one, alongside all of the available modifications, will be described in their own section below. In addition to the modifications unique to each family, there also exist Universal modifications, which can be applied to most firearms, regardless of whether they belong to a Customs family or not.

1911 Single Stack (1911SS)

1911SS.png

A semi-automatic pistol platform based on the classic 1911 design. The most famous example is the Colt M1911A1, chambered in .45 ACP.

1911SS pistols are recognizable by their slim frame, distinctive style and design, and their use of single-stack magazines.

Any full-size firearm based on the 1911 design and using single-stack magazines is considered to be part of the 1911SS family, even if minute details (hammer, beavertail, rounded or square butt, style and type of iron sights...) may differ.

Blackhawk

Blackhawk.png

A single-action revolver platform, patterned after the Ruger Blackhawk. Blackhawks are considered to be among the toughest and most durable single-action revolvers ever made, allowing them to be chambered in a wide variety of pistol calibers, from .22 Long Rifle to .454 Casull and nearly everything in between.

Blackhawk revolvers, like other single-action revolvers, can be reloaded using speed strips.

Base models (Blackhawk)

noframe Customs family: Blackhawk

.44 Magnum models Ruger Super Blackhawk

All base models are Class 3, Weight 5.

Modifications available (Blackhawk)

Rechambering (Blackhawk)

When rechambering a Blackhawk, you must select both a caliber and a cylinder capacity. Double-caliber cylinders (e.g. .357 Magnum / .38 Special) may accept both listed cartridges interchangeably.

All rechambering services cost Parallar symbol.png200.

Note: In single-action revolvers such as Blackhawks, rimless cartridges headspace on the case mouth. A cylinder chambered for a rinless cartridge can therefore only accept that specific cartridge and none other, even if a double-action revolver chambered in the same cartridge would also accept a shorter version (e.g. a Blackhawk revolver with a 10x25mm Auto cylinder cannot accept .40 S&W). This is because the shorter cartridges would simply fall a certain depth into the cylinder, preventing the firing pin from hitting the primer and therefore firing the cartridge.

Redhawk

Redhawk.png

A double-action/single-action revolver platform, patterned after the Ruger Redhawk. Just as Blackhawks are considered to be among the most durable single-actions ever made, Redhawks are considered to be some of the strongest and toughest DA/SA revolvers ever made. They can be chambered in the same wide variety of cartridges as their single-action counterparts.

Glock Short Frame (Glock-SF)

Glock-SF.png

A semi-automatic pistol platform based on the original Glock design, employing a short frame for small to medium-caliber pistol cartridges. The original Glock-SF pistol is the Glock 17 in 9x19mm Parabellum.

All Glocks pistols are recognizable by their polymer frame, distinctly blocky looks, and the lack of manual safeties, instead featuring a unique "safe-action" trigger-mounted safety.

Any full-size firearm based on the Glock design using the original short frame is considered to be a Glock-SF. Large-caliber full size models are Glock-LFs, while compact and subcompact models are not considered to be either Glock-SF or Glock-LF pistols.

Glock Large Frame (Glock-LF)

Glock-LF.png

A semi-automatic pistol platform based on the Glock design, employing a large frame for large-caliber pistol cartridges. The original Glock-LF pistol is the Glock 20 in 10x25mm Auto.

All Glock pistols are recognizable by their polymer frame, distinctly blocky looks, and the lack of manual safeties, instead featuring a unique "safe-action" trigger-mounted safety.

These large-frame models possess roughly 50% parts commonality with the original short-frame models, but most of the major parts are scaled up to accomodate larger cartridges. Therefore, pistols from different frame sizes cannot be converted from one to the other.

Any full-size firearm based on the Glock design using the large frame is considered to be a Glock-LF. Small-caliber full size models are Glock-SFs, while compact and subcompact models are not considered to be either Glock-SF or Glock-LF pistols.

MP5

MP5.png

A select-fire submachine gun platform based on the MP5, itself a scaled-down version of the G3 rifle. It employs a unique roller-locked delayed blowback action, instead of a more traditional straight blowback (such as in the Uzi) or a more modern, rifle inspired gas operation (like the SIG MPX).

The original MP5 was chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum. The currently available production MP5 submachine guns are available in 9x19mm Parabellum (MP5A3), .40 S&W (MP5/40A2) and 10x25mm Auto (MP5/10A3).

Any full-size MP5 submachine gun is considered to be part of the MP5 family, which excludes the MP5K.

AR-15

AR-15.png

Customs nomenclature

If you submit a compatible weapon to Maze Customs for a Major mod, and apply at least one modification, that weapon will be renamed to Custom <family>, with "<family>" being replaced by your weapon's corresponding family, even if the resulting combination of modifications would effectively replicate another base model of the same family.

 • Example: Peter purchases a rechambering modification for his Colt M1911A1, rechambering it to .40 S&W. This automatically renames his weapon to Custom 1911SS.

You may, of course, choose to rename your weapon to whatever name or nickname you wish. However, in order to clearly signal that this is a user-given name and not any official or semi-official nomenclature, any name given to a weapon by their user should be between quotation marks.

 • Example: Peter wants to give his .40 S&W 1911SS pistol a more palatable name. He decides to call it Old Reliable, as this pistol has been with him for a long time. The weapon is therefore renamed to "Old Reliable", with quotation marks.

Notes

 • Note 1: Barrel porting is the act of drilling strategically placed holes into the barrel and slide, allowing part of the gases to be vented through these holes, acting as a sort of integrated muzzle brake. However, the expulsion of these gases is also what generates the noise a firearm makes. If there are any openings through which gases (and therefore noise) can escape before reaching the muzzle, it will be loud regardless of what is at the end of the barrel. This is the same principle that prevents revolvers from being suppressed normally (due to the gap between the cylinder and the frame). For all of those reasons, a ported barrel negates the effects of a silencer; in other words, it is possible but pointless to attach a silencer to a ported barrel.
