A large canine creature, with completely white fur, shining blue eyes, and the ability to fire freezing beams. Kallwolves are canines that somewhat resemble canine creatures resembling [[warg|wargs]], if not for their but with completely white fur and blue eyes instead of red. Like wargs, their average height is 4 feet, and adults weigh 100 to 120 lbspounds.
Very much unlike wargs, however, is their ability to perform a ''frostblast'' attack, which consists of them firing a beam of elemental energy from their mouths, which freezes or at least severely reduces the temperature of anything it hits. Creatures struck by a frostblast beam sustain sharp pains, and the beam's freezing effect is known to cause instant third-degree frostbite, resulting in severe damage to flesh and tissue. Watch for patches of ice of frozen objects seemingly randomly strewn about; this is a good indicator that a creature capable of firing these beams has recently passed through the area, and there is a chance it may be a kallwolf.
Another notable particularity of kallwolves is that they are very solitary creatures, only rarely seen with other members of their own species; and usually only during mating season. The rest of the time, they are extremely hostile to just about anyone and anything else, including their own. If prey becomes scarce, they have even been known to engage in cannibalistic behavior.
The "kall" particle in the species' name is derived from an [[Languages|Old Tongue]] word, '''''kal''''', which means "Ice". Kallwolves existed during the [[History of the Mazes|medieval eras]], and were referred to as '''''kalawukalauu''''' (pronounced ''cal-awoo'', from '''''kal''''' and '''''awuauu''''', meaning "[[wolf]]"), which can be transliterated translated to the rather apt name of "ice wolf". The reason behind the doubled Ls is obscure, and thought to have come from an early translation error.
