Insectoids (''Homo ferus ex insectum'') are one of the species of '''feral animal-people''' (scientific designation ''homo ferus''), species that have evolved to grow humanoid traits and sufficient intelligence to use tools and weapons, but have remained largely 'feral'; they inhabit small, hidden communities in the UA, or are nomadic. Usually, they also do They are not considered to be sapient species, as none are able to speak any understandable a recognizable [[Languageslanguages|language]], though there instead speaking in unrecognizable dialects, which seem to vary between species, sometimes between individual groups of tribes within the same species. Biologists believe that feral animal-people are some rare exceptions"edge cases" of sapience; they may very well be self-aware, with the potential to one day develop the ability to speak a commonly-used language.
These humanoid creatures have an average height of 5 foot 8 inches, and adults weigh 140 to 145 lbs on average. They possess humanoid arms and legs, with five-fingered hands and toes, however they also possess a pair of wings and wing guards, similar to that of a grasshopper. Most importantly, the head of an insectoid resembles that of a number of insects, varying depending on the individual. Insectoids have been observed with heads resembling that of ants, flies, grasshoppers, dragonflies, bees, and hornets.
