{{Lore}}
Insectoids (''Homo ferus ex insectum'') are one of the species of '''feral animal-people''' (scientific designation ''homo ferus''), species that have evolved to grow humanoid traits and sufficient intelligence to use tools and weapons, but have remained largely 'feral'; they inhabit small, hidden communities in the UA, or are nomadic. Usually, they also do They are not considered to be a sapient species, as most aren't able to speak any understandable a recognizable [[Languageslanguages|language]], though there instead speaking in unrecognizable dialects, which seem to vary between species, sometimes between individual groups of tribes within the same species. Biologists believe that feral animal-people are some rare exceptions"edge cases" of sapience; they may very well be self-aware, with the potential to one day develop the ability to speak a commonly-used language. Rare individuals are believed to have learned enough Common or Youkai-go to understand it and may even speak or write it.
These humanoid creatures have an average height of 5 foot 8 inches, and adults weigh 140 to 145 lbs on average. They possess humanoid arms and legs, with five-fingered hands and toes, however they also possess a pair of wings and wing guards, similar to that of a grasshopper. Most importantly, the head of an insectoid resembles that of a number of insects, varying depending on the individual. Insectoids have been observed with heads resembling that of ants, flies, grasshoppers, dragonflies, bees, and hornets.
