{{Lore}}
A humanoid creature with the head of an insect and chitinous armor all over their body. Insectoids (''Homo ferus ex insectum'') are one of the species of '''feral animal-people'''(scientific designation ''homo ferus''), species that have evolved to grow humanoid traits and sufficient intelligence to use tools and weapons, but have remained largely 'feral'; they inhabit small, hidden communities in the UA, or are nomadic. Usually, they also do They are not considered to be a sapient species, as most aren't able to speak any understandable a recognizable [[Languageslanguages|language]], though there instead speaking in unrecognizable dialects, which seem to vary between species, sometimes between individual groups of tribes within the same species. Biologists believe that feral animal-people are some rare exceptions"edge cases" of sapience; they may very well be self-aware, with the potential to one day develop the ability to speak a commonly-used language. Rare individuals are believed to have learned enough Common or Youkai-go to understand it and may even speak or write it.
These humanoid creatures have an average height of 5 foot 8 inches, and adults weigh 140 to 145 lbs on average. They possess humanoid arms and legs, with five-fingered hands and toes, however they also possess a pair of wings and wing guards, similar to that of a grasshopper. Most importantly, the head of an insectoid resembles that of a number of insects, varying depending on the individual. Insectoids have been observed with heads resembling that of ants, flies, grasshoppers, dragonflies, bees, and hornets.
Although insectoids all possess facial mandibles capable of delivering poisonous bites, insectoids are capable of using weapons, and are frequently found carrying a variety of firearms. Though they don't seem to be very skilled or proficient in their use, that alone makes them a significant threat that should not be underestimated.
Like all members of the '''Bugs''' category, the origin of these creatures is unknown. Because they lack any magical or supernatural elements, it has been theorized that these creatures are the result of some type of past scientific experiment gone wrong, and that they have since escaped into the UA and become a species native to the Uncivilized Area. Remarkably, this is the same prevalent theory behind the existence of other '''feral animal-people''', which have only started appearing in the Mazes around [[History of the Mazes|early Era 7]].
