"The H&K Mark 23 was designed to be an "offensive handgun", with the questionable intention of developing sidearms as primary weapons, for equally dubious purposes such as "sneaking missions". But no matter what you use it for, the Mark 23 is an extremely well-made, almost stupidly durable and reliable handgun. So durable and so reliable, that it doesn't matter how hot or cold your ammunition is - the Mark 23 will fire it and ask for more. Comes out of the box with a threaded barrel (suppressor highly recommended!), and a proprietary mount for the AN/PEQ-6 dual module. However, let's address the .45 ACP elephant in the room; the biggest drawback of this handgun is definitely its size. The Mark 23 is big. Really, really big, kind of like this quote. There's a reason it is sometimes nicknamed the ".45 ACP Desert Eagle", and why its successor - the USP45 - is much more reasonable in size. If that's not a problem for you, then trust a snake's opinion: Buy a Mark 23 as soon as possible, you won't regret it."

Let's be honest; the Mark 23 is overbuilt. It will shoot .45 ACP, .45 ACP +P, and .45 Super all day long, and it'll still be there and functional ten generations down from you. So why not give it a real workout and convert it to .460 Rowland? Now, if you can stand shooting .460 Rowland all day everyday, the Mark 23 might only survive down to the sixth or seventh generation. But now it will perform exactly as a pistol of this size should: Powerfully.

Trivia

• Technically speaking, the magazines for the Mark 23 and the USP45 were not originally the same. Although they use otherwise identical magazine bodies, original USP .45 magazines employ shorter feed lips, whereas Mark 23 magazines used longer ones. However, the long model functions in both pistols - all USP .45 magazines in the Mazes are long feed-lip models for logistical simplicity. Note that the magazine floor plates are also different between the USP and the Mark 23, although this does not impede function; the floor plates only differ aesthetically to match each pistol's slightly different frames.
