Greening is the capital city of the Syndicate. It is a very large town located in the Southeastern Zone.

Greening was founded in E7-53. Like Elusec, it was originally a human town, which later fell under the control of the Wraiths, an infamous criminal organization responsible for the Twin Terror Acts. Greening was raided and occupied by the Maze Police in E7-55, resulting in the capture of Wraiths leader Keith "Spectrum" Daxon. The Police occupied Greening for another 24 hours after the arrest, after which they departed without keeping control of the town. Soon after the Police left Greening, the town fell into disarray and chaos as several small-time gangs fight for control of the town for decades to come, with many gangs rising and falling.

In E7-124, the Yatela gang is formed by two brothers, Ignazio and Guido Yatela. They assert their authority in town through extreme shows of violence, ending the constant gang wars and forcing the mayor to pledge fealty to the gang. The Yatela Gang effectively conquered the town, symbolically rebranding itself as the Yatela Syndicate. Greening becomes the Syndicate's headquarters, which went on to become the most powerful and successful criminal organizations in the Mazes.

Many decades later, in E7-414, on Nonama 11, Greening fell victim to the Super-Heist, perpetrated by the Guild of Silver Larceners against virtually every single shop and facility that could possibly contain money and valuables. Fifty heavily-armed and -armored Larceners invaded the town and coordinated what amounted to an invasion effort for the sole purpose of committing one of the greatest acts of simultaneous robberies history had ever seen. The incident sparked a still-ongoing lethal rivalry between the two criminal organizations.

Greening is home to one of only three traditional sea farms in the world. Of the three, the one in Greening is the oldest and the largest. The town capitalizes on this fact with the existence of a one-of-a-kind, 100% seafood restaurant, the Greening Fish Market & Restaurant.

The current mayor of Greening is Syndicate Don Michael Yatela.

The local population is fairly homogenous, with a majority of humans, a small but active halfling community, and two very small minorities of youkai and demonic creatures.

Local laws

Greening is an independent town under the control of the Syndicate, and as such, does not follow nor respect Standard Law. There are no written rules, and local customs may vary greatly depending on the town.

General rules and principles in all Syndicate towns:

  • The Syndicate's word is the law.
  • Local Town Security is subservient to the authority of Syndicate enforcers and capos.
  • Members of the Maze Police are not welcome and will be shot on sight. Friends and known associates of the Police will suffer the same fate.

Although some towns may lean towards orderliness and peacekeeping (especially if there are important businesses intended to attract visitors), visitors must be ready for anything while visiting a Syndicate town, and not count on the help of the local Town Security should anything happen to them. Petty criminal activity targeted towards visitors is rampant, ranging from scamming and swindling to assault and mugging. In common parlance, such activities are referred to as "hustling" or "work" and are generally tolerated so long as they're not aimed at a known associate or full member of the Syndicate.

Local town facilities

If a local shop or facility has a name or belongs to a particular chain, it is italicized.
