An enormous arachnid, with the appearance of a tarantula.
The giant tarantula is one of several species of giant insects native to the Mazes. It appears to be an enormous version of the ''[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poecilotheria_metallica poecilotheria metallica]'', easily recognizable by the unique coloration of their bodies: a brilliant electric blue color, with yellow and black accentsand sparse brown hair all over their legs, pedipalps, thorax and abdomen. They average at 4 feet 4 inches in height and 5 feet in length. These creatures are very light for their size, rarely weighing more than 30 lbs even when fully grown.
Unlike the other giant arachnid in the Mazes, the [[giant scorpion]], giant tarantulas do not have natural layers of armor, instead being frighteningly quick and agile. This species possesses the fastest average land speed of all giant insects native to the Mazes, capable of crawling at up to 50 ft/s (about 34 mph), though they can occasionally perform short bursts of speed, up to 70 ft/s (~48 mph).
