According to Military rumors and legends, Fort Scarlet received its name because the soldier-settlers had to continually delay the town's construction to fight back hordes of invading [[creatures]], painting the newly-built rooms and corridors red with blood in the process.
One of the local facilities is the ''Powder Thirst Factory'', a [[food factory]] specialized in the production of soft drinks, and most notably, the powdered drinks used in [[Food#Rations|military rations]].
It is a very small community, one of the rare few in the Mazes with no direct connection to another town, being instead entirely surrounded by [[Intersections]]. Its distant, remote location near the border with the Western Zone means very few travelers come to visit the town.
