Attacks and techniques

This creature has four attacks: Bite, Psi-blast, Airblast, and Seraphic speed.

Bite

Damage type Range MAPT IS LDV Pain (C1) Pain (C2) Pain (A1) Pain (A2) Pain (A3) Pain (A4) Pain (A5)
Sharp Melee 4 5 +2 35% 32% 28% 23% 18% 9% 2%

Psi-blast

Damage type Range MAPT IS LDV Pain (All ACs)
Special Ranged 1 14 N 35%
  • Inflicts no Limb Damage.
  • Ignores the target's Pain Sensitivity; this attack treats the target as if it had a PS of 100%.
  • Accuracy malus: FT +1 when using this technique.

Airblast

Damage type Range MAPT IS LDV Pain (All ACs)
Special Ranged 1 18 +3 9%
  • On a successful hit, the target has a chance to take damage from an airslam; damage from being slammed to the ground or against a wall due to the airblast's powerful air currents.
    • A creature hit by an airblast must make an Airslam check: Roll 2d6+Agi. On a 9 or more, the creature passes the check and does not sustain further damage. Otherwise, they are airslammed and take additional damage, see the table below.

Airslam damage

Damage type Range MAPT IS LDV Pain (C1) Pain (C2) Pain (A1) Pain (A2) Pain (A3) Pain (A4) Pain (A5)
Blunt Special N/A N/A +1 50% 45% 40% 33% 25% 13% 3%
  • Airslam damage is applied to a random body part.
  • Upon sustaining Airslam damage, if the creature had Flight on, it is forced off.

Seraphic speed

Damage type Range MAPT IS LDV Pain (All ACs)
Special Special 1 1 N N/A
  • Inflicts no Pain or Limb Damage.
  • This technique is an Angelic power which requires 2 AE to cast.
  • Upon casting this technique, the creature gains Agility +1 and -2 IS tiers' for 1 turn.
  • This technique always succeeds.
  • The creature's turn does not end after casting this technique, allowing the creature to immediately use another technique after casting this one. However, it cannot be cast more than once in the same turn.

Other information

Creature traits:

  • Air affinity: This creature has a talent for combat while in the air, and does not receive FT or Recoil maluses while Flight is on.
  • Angelic: This creature is angelic, and therefore has access to certain Angelic powers (listed above as techniques), and the resource needed to cast them, Angelic Energy. See this page for more details.
  • Cannot be butchered: On death, this creature's body quickly fades then disappears, dropping any equipment it carried (if any) and making it impossible to butcher this creature.
  • Flight: This creature is capable of flying using its wings. As a free action, this creature may toggle Flight on or off once per turn. If Flight is on, this creature receives the following effects:
    • Primed pressure mines will not be set off by a flying creature on the same Side.
    • Primed directional mines will not be set off by a flying creature even if it enters the Protected Side from the Target Side.
    • Opponents attacking a flying creature suffer from a FT malus: FT+2 with melee attacks, FT+1 with ranged attacks.
    • Flying creatures cannot take cover.
    • Flying creatures suffer from certain maluses: Recoil +1 and FT+1. (Does not apply due to air affinity)
    • If at least half of their wings is disabled, this creature is forced off Flight and can no longer toggle it back on until healed.

Angelic creatures are employees of Heaven, Ltd., the Angelic faction.

Feathered serpents are large creatures resembling giant snakes, with the head of a dragon and a pair of angelic wings. They are armored with shimmering, sky-blue scales, and naturally, are capable of flying as well. The original Angelic language word is nigh-unpronounceable, but is said to roughly transliterate to "winged snake"; so the name "feathered serpent" was chosen as its official Common name.

Within the angelic hierarchy, feathered serpents are C-rank, ranking above angels and pterolykoi, at the same level as shrine maidens and guardian angels, and under seraphim and colossi.

Feathered serpents are unique creatures; though they cannot speak, they are highly intelligent and capable of understanding any language, and possess magical abilities in three distinct domains. They can fire airblasts much like a draconair; psi-blasts much like a psionic warrior or a satori, and the seraphic speed angelic power (borrowed from seraphim), which allows them to spend some of their accumulated Angelic Energy to make themselves even faster than normal.

Like pterolykoi, feathered serpents are non-evolving and not considered sapient. However, their psionic abilities have long been the subject of a debate on whether these creatures are capable of reading minds, in much the same way satori can. Heaven, Ltd. has so far refused to speak out in an official capacity on the subject, but this theory is considered plausible by the scientific community, with many stories and anecdotes supporting it and claiming it to be true.

Angelics consider feathered serpents to be suitable for medium-scale community defense, most suited to be under the orders of a shrine maiden or a guardian angel. However, a particularly meritorious Angelic-aligned individual can sometimes be gifted the rare privilege of receiving a feathered serpent's protection, in lieu of a GA. They are considered to be creatures of exceptional grace and beauty, worthy of respect and inspiration. Inappropriate behavior in the presence of a feathered serpent is considered to be very insulting, and can be severely punished.
