An escort boss (male: pimp ; female: madam, may also be colloquially called ringleader, zebra or Mr./Mrs. Stripes) is a person in charge of an escort ring, a group of organized escorts.

An escort boss is the leader of an escort ring.

A pimp is a male escort boss, whereas a madam is a female escort boss. Alternative terms include ringleader (because they run an escort ring), zebra or Mr./Mrs. Stripes (after the zebra-patterned clothes they commonly wear).

Most of the duties of an escort boss are managerial. Their jobs include providing food, shelter and safety for their subordinates, arranging meetings between customers and their escorts, organizing special events and offers, managing the ring's finances, and setting the cut they take from each subordinate (can vary greatly, ranging from 15% to 75%). Rarely, escort bosses perform sex work of their own, depending on age, physical condition, and popularity.

The majority of escort bosses are themselves subordinate to a gang or criminal organization, particularly if their brothel is located in a town controlled by such an organization. These organizations themselves take a cut from the rings under their control, in exchange for guaranteeing their safety, providing heavily-armed security and threatening misbehaving customers and competing rings with violent retribution.

The Yatela Crime Syndicate is in control of the majority of all escort bosses in the Mazes, and are known for being extremely aggressive towards rings that refuse to submit to them. In turn, independent escort rings are fairly rare, small, and usually far removed from the Syndicate's influence.
