Navigation: Main Page Game mechanics Abilities Demonic powers

Demonic powers is the general name given to a various abilities that demonic creatures can use. These abilities require the use of a special resource called Demonic Energy.

Demonic Energy

The special resource required to perform these techniques is known as Demonic Energy, often shortened to DE.

The starting and maximum amounts of DE that can be held by an angelic creature depends on their species.

Species Starting DE Max DE
Imp 1 5
Fiend 3 10
Cubus 4 15
Cacobaron 4 15
Vampire 5 20
Dark maiden 5 20
Malduke 8 30
Incinerator 4 15
Archdaemon 10 40

To generate more Demonic Energy, demonic creatures have a number of methods at their disposal:

  • Eliminating angelics: A demonic creature gains DE for every angelic creature they personally destroyed in combat, equal to 2 DE x Threat level of the defeated angelic. (e.g. defeating a Pterolykos, a threat level 2 angelic creature, will net 4 DE.)
  • Protection service: A demonic creature can also gain DE simply for protecting people. They will frequently request to tag along with travelers for this reason. A demonic creature gains 1 DE per completed fight during which they acted as allies or protectors to at least one sapient creature that was neither demonic (so they cannot "boost" each other) nor angelic (because they are enemies).
  • Donations: Dark maidens can receive DE through a third method: receiving monetary donations when inside of their home sanctum. They will gain 1 DE per Parallar symbol.png250 received. A donation of Parallar symbol.png5000 will fully "charge" one dark maiden to their maximum of 20 DE.
  • Sex service: Being sex demons, cubi can receive DE by having sex with sapients. For every round of sex a cubus performs, they will gain 1 DE. They will repeatedly try to charm and convince sapients they meet for one (or multiple) rounds, until they are satisfied (generally by reaching their maximum DE). It is a bad idea to refuse, but it can be dangerous to keep going...
    • If you choose to lay with a cubus, then for every round performed, roll 3d15: you will heal Stress equal to 0.1x the result, but you will gain Fatigue equal to 0.2x the result.
    • Cubi will continue asking for more rounds if they haven't yet reached their maximum DE. If you try to refuse, you must roll a 1d100, subtract 5 for every level in Negotiation skill above Unskilled, then subtract 5 for each round of sex. If the result is 0 or negative, they will accept your refusal. If the result is positive but under 25, the cubus will be angry and demand to be your "companion" (which turns into a protection service). If the result is over 25, or if you refuse their request to be your "companion", they will turn hostile and engage you in combat.
      • Negotiation skill bonuses: Unskilled (-0), Basic (-5), Skilled (-10), Expert (-15), Master (-20)
  • Blood donation service: Vampires can receive DE by absorbing blood (1 DE for every 1.0 Blood absorbed), through the use of their vampire bite technique. This works even outside of combat, and vampires will frequently request a "taste" of the blood of sapients they meet. Refusing is usually safe, but you must take care to be polite in your way of displaying refusal; an offended vampire will engage you in combat.

Demonic powers

Not all demonic creatures have access to the same powers, and each has different effects and DE costs. Demonic powers are listed as techniques on each creature's page, alongside their DE costs. Please refer to individual angelic creature pages for more details.
