Roosters have larger combs, longer tail feathers, and an overall more colorful plumage. Young chicken are referred to as '''chicks''' and are typically yellow in color, though other feather colorations also exist.
Being the smallest and the easiest type of animal to capture and raise for its meat, the chicken's reputation is largely centered around how delicious it is, or how afraid and defenseless it is compared to a typical inhabitant of the Mazes. To call someone a "chicken" is to insult or make fun of them for being scared. Chicken- and chicken egg-based dishes, much like in the real world, are considered to be a staple of cuisine in the Mazes, in both human and youkai cultures, as evidenced by the [[Food|large amount of food items using chicken products]].
