A large scavenger bird, known for its appetite for meat and its all-black plumage. Black vultures are similar to their [[bearded vulture|bearded cousins]] in many respects, the main differences being of course diet and plumage color. Once known as birds that barely reached more than 2 feet in height, they have since evolved in the Mazes to become much taller, tougher and heavier than their real-life equivalents, reaching heights of up to 4 feet 6 inches and weighing up to 35 pounds.
Like all vultures, they are scavenger birds, feeding nearly exclusively on the corpses of other creatures. They are the traditional type of scavenger bird, which feasts on fresh corpses for their meat.
