A large scavenger bird, known for its appetite for meat and its all-black plumage.

Black vultures are similar to their bearded cousins in many respects, the main differences being of course plumage color. Once known as birds that barely reached more than 2 feet in height, they have since evolved in the Mazes to become much taller, tougher and heavier than their real-life equivalents, reaching heights of up to 4 feet 6 inches and weighing up to 35 pounds.

Like all vultures, they are scavenger birds, feeding nearly exclusively on the corpses of other creatures. They are the traditional type of scavenger bird, which feasts on fresh corpses for their meat.

They are one of the species of creatures in the Mazes that are capable of flying, and will use this ability to maintain themselves in the air, perform diving attacks, or simply remain out of reach from potential enemies. Black vultures are territorial and prone to fighting other creatures, with rare few exceptions. Most notably and curiously, black vultures and bearded vultures have been observed to cooperate together in the Mazes on certain occasions - groups of black vultures have been seen picking apart fresh corpses for their meat, leaving the bones to their bearded cousins.
