Bearded vultures are tall birds, between 3 and 4 feet in height and 10 to 17 pounds in weight. Like all vultures, they are scavenger birds, feeding nearly exclusively on the corpses of other creatures. Bearded vultures are an especially unique type of scavenger, in that up to 90% of their diet is composed of bone, allowing them to survive on the remains of creatures that few others would consider even suitable for consumption.

They are one of the species of creatures in the Mazes that are capable of flying, and will use this ability to maintain themselves in the air, perform diving attacks, or simply remain out of reach from potential enemies. Bearded vultures are territorial and prone to fighting other creatures, with rare few exceptions. Most notably and curiously, black vultures and bearded vultures have been observed to cooperate together in the Mazes on certain occasions - groups of black vultures have been seen picking apart fresh corpses for their meat, leaving the bones to their bearded cousins.
