.410 bore is the smallest of the shotgun shell sizes available in the Mazes. Although long (3 inch/76mm), their restrictive diameter only allows for a limited quantity of powder and projectiles. On the other hand, these shells are small, lightweight, low-recoiling, and of sufficiently small diameter to fit in certain handguns (certain [[.45 Colt]] and [[.454 Casull]] firearms). For all of these reasons, .410 bore is often considered the entry-level of shotgun calibers in the Mazes, selected by the younger and the less-experienced.
Some projectile types are not available in .410 bore (namely, FRAG-12 and coin shot) as they simply would not fit.
