Though the Mazes use a '''calendar''' that is virtually similar to that of the real world, there are still a number of differences, which will be explained in detail in this page.

= Periods of time in a single day =
''See [[Time]] for more information.''

= Era system =

There have been a number of periods of time throughout the [[History of the Mazes]] where the calendar was symbolically reset to year zero. As of today, the calendar has been reset six times, making the current era '''Era 7''', and the current year is '''Year 704'''. Usually, when referring to the current year, all that is needed is to simply say "704" or "year 704", however if the era number must be specified, such as in historical contexts, it is possible to add the prefix "E" followed by the era number. As such, the extended form of the current year is '''Era 7, Year 704''' or '''E7-704'''.

Calendar resets meant going all the way back to the first day of the first month, in what would then become another year 0. However, whether or not calendars returned to '''Advenday''' (the first day of the week, the Mazes equivalent of Monday - see below for more details) has been inconsistent throughout history - sometimes it happened, othertimes it didn't. Historians have noted that it has not happened in the last two calendar resets, meaning that even as the world entered Era 6 and Era 7, the '''Prima 1, year 0''' (Prima 1 = January 1st, see below) of each year may not necessarily have been Advendays.

The exact date the last time a calendar reset resulted in a reset to Advenday was '''Prima 1, E5-0.''' As Era 5 and Era 6 lasted 800 years each, this means that as of today, the epoch for the days of the week has not been reset in 2304 years.

= Calendar system =

The calendar used in the Mazes possesses 365 days and 12 months, very similar to the real world. However, there is a number of key differences:

* Unique names for each day of the week and each month of the year.
* Because the Mazes do not significantly change the way an "outside" world would (no changes in weather, ecology, or daylight), there are no real seasons. The concept of a 'season' is really just a symbolic three-month period.
* No leap years - every year is strictly 365 days, similar to the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egyptian_calendar Egyptian civil calendar].
* Certain months are 31 days, others are 30 days, with the exception of the second month being 28 days - just like a regular [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregorian_calendar Gregorian Calendar] non-leap year.
