Creature traits:
*Delicacy meat: When butchered, this creature's meat is considered to be a delicacy, worth double the value of regular game meat.
*Dimorphic: The sex of each creature must be generated, as there are critical differences between males and females. Roll 1d2 for each creature (1: Male, 2: Female).
** <span style="color:#0000FF">♂ Males (bucks)</span> have 2 antlers, which are part of the creature's EXTREMITY limb group. The presence of these antlers gives them the ability to use the Antler strike attack.
** <span style="color:#FF0000">♀ Females (does)</span> lack the antlers males possess, leaving them with no EXTREMITY limbs. The lack of antlers allows them to use the Headbutt attack.
*Drops items on death: Upon being defeated, this creature will drop the following items:
** 1d5-1 mechanical keys (random serials)
*Yields extra items when butchered: If butchered, this creature will produce extra items:
** For each antler with at least 1 HP remaining on death: 1 Bone antler
** Otherwise: Nothing
Although Key deer in the real world are always referred to with an uppercase "K" due to their association with the Florida Keys, key deer in the Mazes are referred to with a lowercase "k" instead.
Key deer are the smallest species of deer in the Mazes. They are genetically considered a miniature version of the white-tailed deer. Like all deer, adult males are known as bucks, adult females are does, and all juveniles (under 1-year-old) are called fawns. An average adult key deer stands at about 30 2 feet 6 inches at the shoulder and rarely weighs more than 70 lbs.
The name "key deer" comes from an old folklore legend surrounding these miniature deer, which were said to grow key-shaped antlers. Some versions of the legend say that if a key deer grows old enough, its antlers could eventually open any door. To prevent them from making their way past your door, the legend recommended hanging keys on keyrings on these antlers, so that they could use them instead. Other versions state that putting keys on a key deer's antlers was a good luck charm to prevent unwanted visits.
